simple camera for anyone who wants to upgrade to a DSLR but

Pro Profile:
"You are only as good as your last job" - Saurabh Dua
Saurabh
Dua entered the photographic industry when most youngsters
entered college. This head start allowed him to foray into
commercial and fashion photography, bagging many prestigious
contracts. The photographer believes that his greatest
driving force has been the desire to constantly diversify
his creations. He tells Asian Photography how he got his
foot into the Indian imaging industry and then went onto to
create an identifiable presence for himself.
How did your photography journey begin?
I’m a simple guy from Lucknow and I began assisting
Tarun Khiwal after Class 12. However, I was fascinated by
photography since the early age and wanted to explore the
same immediately after my school. I would only take a break
from work during my exams. Fortunately I am 26 now and I
have been on my own for the last 4 years.
What sparked your interest in this field?
As mentioned earlier I was always fascinated with the
camera shooting flowers, people and architecture. It was
only recently that I realized that I need to do something
that is more challenging, which resulted in meeting the
right person and landing in a studio. |

Digital Camera Basics - Understanding Auto Settings
Gone are the days of heavy and
expensive camera equipment. Nowadays digital cameras
have become trendy, very affordable and so commonplace
that most people have one. Many people have entered
photography since the end of the film camera age. So, do
we have good photographers in abundance now?
Well, maybe a few more than before.
However, as cameras have become essential for everyone,
you will also find more people who really don’t know
what they are doing. It is therefore useful for all of
us to return to the absolute basics of a digital compact
camera every now and then. There are a few essentials
you must learn before you start snapping away. No
technical knowledge is required for these basics. |

Nikon D3

With the launch of the Nikon D3, Canon finally seems to
have a rival in its full-35mm space. Although it has
been a long time coming, the D3 is arguably one of the
most awaited and anticipated camera in recent years. The
D3 also marks the company’s move to the “full-sized”
digital sensor or a 35mm-like solution.
Just like the D2x, Nikon seems to
have struck a very fine equilibrium with their latest
offing. One of the biggest surprises for any consumer
might be the fact that the D3 is featuring a
12.1-meagpixel sensor as opposed to the D2x which
sported the 12.4-megapixel sensor. While it was highly
anticipated that Nikon will go the Canon way with an
increase in its megapixel count considerably, the
manufacturer seems to be riding against any pre-notions.
This naturally means that Nikon
thinks that a 12.1-megapixel full-frame sensor is more
than enough to suffice the requirement of the
professionals as opposed to Canon, who has launched the
Mark III 1Ds with a whopping 21.1-megapixel sensor. |
