Profile: Anthropological Photography
"My
focus is on what I like to call the 'human experience,' I
guess you could call it Anthropological Photography. I like
to catch diverse people in their natural environment, simply
doing what they do. Even my landscape shots are usually tied
back to some element of the human experience or hold greater
insight into current events. Teaching is like a main course
and photography as a desert for me", says Colin Boyd Shafer,
a teacher by profession and an enthusiastic photographer.

Richard
Tan, a service engineer by profession and an enthusiastic
photographer becomes an expert for Formula One photography
and shares with us how he got into the business and what are
the key points that you have to keep in mind while you shoot
such fast moving objects. Richard picked up photography in
1998 when he bought a second hand film SLR from his friend.
He started learning from his friends, as they went around
shooting almost anything, from sunsets to landscapes, night
scenes etc. Later, he lost his camera and could not continue
his hobby for some time but then picked it up again in 2002
when he bought his first digital compact (FujiFilm S602Z).
From then onwards, he became an enthusiast photographer. His
interest in photography went into the next level after he
took over his first digital SLR (Nikon D70) in 2004.
Currently he's using Nikon D300. |

Lens Review: Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 Dill Macro 1:1
We
test a real macro photography lens which has one of the
fastest and maximum aperture that a macro lenses have ever
produced i.e. Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 dill macro 1:1. Earlier,
we would think of having F/2.8, but now you can move in even
closer to your subjects with F/2 aperture and have a mix of
dramatically sharp and blurry effects on the images. Not
just this, you can also have a telephoto range of 60mm which
is equivalent to 93mm when converted to the 35mm format
camera. This lens inherits the quality of Tamron's
world-renowned 90mm F2.8 macro. This lens is the world's
first 1:1 macro APS-C size lens featuring F2 |

Tips & Techs: Photographing Landscapes
Photography
is a creative endeavour and should not be learnt in a hurry.
There is no point in rushing or chasing to click a
photograph during the golden hour. Arrive early at the
location, well before the golden hours start. You cannot
randomly click and expect the photographs to be flawless.
Mental preparation and slow peaceful approach is any day
better than rushing your shot with chaos and time
constraint. Landscape photography should be creative and not
mechanical. If you make an effort to arrive early, set up
your equipment, and take a few moments to collect your
thoughts and visualize; you are much more likely to get
impressive and high quality images. |
